A bit of Offshore Technology Conference history
The Offshore Technology Conference was founded in 1969 by 12 engineering and scientific organizations as a response to the growing technological needs of the global ocean extraction and environmental protection industries. Interdisciplinary and cross-sector cooperation was becoming acute as both industries moved into more hostile environments and unknown operating conditions, explains the OTC on its page.
The Albert Thomas Convention Center in Houston was the first venue for this event, and over the years and due to the increasing number of participants, it was moved to NRG Park, formerly Reliant Park and Astrodomain Complex.
This event has been of such relevance that it is among the 100 largest trade fairs in the United States and the 10 largest in terms of attendance, in 2014 more than 108,300 people registered.
Currently the OTC is already found throughout the world, in 2011 the OTC Brazil and the Arctic Technology Conference were created and in 2012, OTC Asia.
Also in 2012, the Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP) was confirmed as the regional sponsoring organization and co-organizer of OTC Brazil.
OTC 2023 will present a three-day dedicated Arctic energy thread. Discover sessions such as: Arctic Oil and Gas Sustainability: Innovation and Technology Driving Energy Industry Opportunities. Trans-Alaskan Pipeline System - TAPS.
